Biography

Leng Hong was born in 1955 and was educated at the Shanghai Institute of Theater and Dramatic Art. Upon his graduation he worked as a researcher and professor at the Chinese Painting Institute. He became a permanent member of the Chinese Artists Association of Shanghai His paintings were regularly exhibited all over China. He then moved to Bordeaux, France where his talent was quickly acknowledged. Leng Hong was awarded with several important prizes and was featured in television broadcasts (FR3, NHK, CTV...). He held numerous exhibitions of his work all over Europe. He moved to Montreal, Canada in 1992 where he currently resides. In his work, Leng Hong reflects an affinity with traditional Chinese artistic culture although integrating elements of Western traditions. In this set of paintings, he concentrates on the effects produced by the composition and the colors, creating landscape almost seen as calligraphic motifs.
