Biography
Born in Paris, Christian studied literary classes in La Sorbonne where he took a degree in Philosophy. Wishing to embrace a more tangible vocation, he then moved to Antibes (South of France) where he learnt, for about six years, all the possible techniques of working with his favorite material: wood. In 1975, he opened his own workshop giving life to his first creations. Upon his return to Paris, the following year, his first exhibition took place in the Galerie Blondel.
Over the years, Christian nourished his work with his imaginary and emotions revealing the shape and the texture of subjects from the most realistic to the most abstract ones. "As I work it becomes obvious how the material unveils its nature slowly, grain after grain. The quick gesture, bearer of but one idea, becomes invalid: if I am to 'tell' of silk or cotton, of velvet or leather, of paper or cardboard, I must give every detail, for only in this accuracy does the material unveil itself, make itself know to our bodies."
